2017 New Year's Baby

The first baby of 2017 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital waited until January was almost over.  Bristol Bren Carlgren was born at 7:44 a.m. on Monday, January 30, weighing in at 7 lbs. 8 oz and 20 inches long.  Proud parents are Bret & Katie Carlgren, Courtland, KS.  Bristol has a brother Brandt, age 7 and a 2 year old sister, Blakely who were also born at Brodstone.  Grandparents include Mark & Sandra Reed of Courtland, KS and Ed and Jane Ann Carlgren of Scandia KS.

The first baby of the year received some books from Brodstone Memorial Hospital and a quilt made by Loose Threads Sewing Circle.  The sewing group’s members include Sandy Larkey, Dorothy Alexander, Nancy Sauvageau and Angel Elledge. 

In 2016 there were a total of 36 babies born at Brodstone Memorial Hospital.  They were evenly divided with 18 boys and 18 girls.  The busiest month was October with 6 babies born.  There were 5 babies born in May.  There was at least one baby born each month at Brodstone.  The annual number of babies is down 5 from last year as 41 were born in 2015, 35 in 2014, 33 in 2013 and 29 in 2012.  In 2011, 47 babies were born at Brodstone which was the highest in a span 10 of years.
