| Cardiac
Rehabilitation
We offer outpatient cardiac rehabilitation services to patients who are high-risk for heart disease or who have recently suffered a heart event. Our team is made up of cardiologists, registered nurses, dieticians, physical therapists, exercise specialists and social service counselors. The Cardiac Rehab team recently began a Healthy Living Program to guide diabetes and heart patients through an exercise program. |
| Diabetes
Education The BMH Diabetes Management Center is designed to teach our patients how to manage their diabetes so they can live a normal and healthy life. Our diabetic education personnel are trained to provide one-on-one counseling to meet the individual needs of our patients. |
| Emergency
Department Our 24-hour Emergency Department Team is made up of healthcare professionals trained in adult, pediatric and cardiac trauma care. Our hospital-based transport ambulance team is staffed by excellent EMT’s and RN’s and is available to serve the community everyday of the year. And, should our emergency patients need the services of a tertiary hospital, we can transfer them by helicopter to regional health centers in Lincoln or Omaha. |
| Good Beginnings The main emphasis of the Good Beginnings program is to educate mothers and families on proper care for their newborns. Home Health nurses visit new families and provide education to parents on their child’s growth and development. The goal is to work with families and help to create a healthy and nurturing home atmosphere soon after the mother and child return home. |
| Health Information/Business Office Due to government legislation, so much in healthcare and the way we do business has changed. BMH spends a great deal of time ensuring the privacy of our patients’ healthcare information. From maintaining medical records to itemized billing, our staff works hard to ensure fairness and accuracy. A transition to electronic records was made to keep in step with the ever changing healthcare environment and to continue our goal of patient safety in all aspects of our patient care. |
| Home Health
Our Home Health Department sees patients in all stages of illness – from the young adult to the senior citizen. Some of the services we provide include: skilled nursing; physical, occupational and speech therapy; social services; and home health aides to assist with personal care needs – all under the direction of each patient’s physician. Our nurses and health professionals continually look for new ways to offer professional care with a personal touch. |
| Immunization
Clinic BMH, in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Health, provides a free immunization clinic the second Wednesday of every month at the United Methodist Church, 448 N. Kansas, Superior from 2 to 4 p.m. Immunizations are offered to individuals from birth to age 18. Call the Home Health Department at 402-879-3910 for questions or to make an appointment. Donations to help defray the cost of the immunizations are appreciated. |
| Imaging
Department BMH’s Imaging Department provides a full range of diagnostic imaging with the latest in imaging technology. Services include: computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, x-ray, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), bone density, and Doppler and echo. Our specially trained registered technologists are committed to providing the highest-quality care. Our state-of-the-art technology allows BMH the ability to do tests more quickly, providing greater patient comfort. In keeping with the latest technology, BMH concerted to a Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS) in 2005. Most of the tests preformed in the Imaging Department will be captured digitally. Images are then available to the Radiologists and Physicians at their workstations in the hospitsl, clinic or in their home. This information is provided much faster and access is easier, so that patient wait time is at a minimum. Also transportation of these tests is reduced to a CD. |
| Labor & Delivery We offer some of the best services for expectant mothers and their babies. From prenatal healthcare and childbirth education, to a positive birthing experience and hospital stay, BMH is dedicated to providing families with a warm, relaxed atmosphere. |
| Laboratory The BMH Laboratory provides in-house laboratory testing and consulting pathology services to both inpatients and outpatients around-the-clock. Our registered medical technologists utilize our updated equipment to provide most test results in the same day. |
| Medical Floor Located on the second floor is a 25-bed Medical-Surgical Unit. Our patients can expect an environment that promotes healing through planned management. This means our nursing staff and social services staff work with each patient’s physician and family to ensure our patients receive the best healthcare possible while they are in the hospital and when they go back home. Our Special Care Unit is also located on the second floor and is well-supplied with emergency care/procedure equipment and supplies. With a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio, our patients with special needs are well taken care of. |
| Nursing Services The most important part of any hospital is the role played by Nursing Services. Our patients can rest assured that we offer the very best in technology and equipment, but our greatest asset is our nursing personnel that allow us the ability to offer a special and personal touch to each and every patient. Our team of nurses genuinely care about the patients they treat, because the patients they treat are their very own community neighbors. All of our RNs are required to regularly attend advance cardiac life support (ACLS) training and our Charge Nurses attend trauma nurse core course (TNCC) to prepare them for many different situations. Our nursing staff also has a very low turnover rate and their experience in years is a tremendous benefit to the patient, to our facility and to our physicians. |

| Rehabilitation
Services Our physical, occupational, and speech therapists are trained to treat and prevent disability for patients of all ages and diagnosis including: birth defects; athletic injuries; stroke; and work-related injuries. Our goal is to return our patients to normal function as quickly and safely as possible. Our rehabilitation professionals work with each patient's healthcare provider to develop a personalized care plan so patients can stay close to home while they rehabilitate an injury. |
| Surgery The BMH Surgery Department consists of two major operating rooms and an endoscopy suite equipped with the latest technology and staffed by anesthesia and surgery personnel who are available 24-hours a day. The department is utilized by our consulting specialists, as well as our local healthcare providers. After construction was completed in 2005, the expanded area for surgery has allowed the list of available surgical procedures to increase. Because BMH provides surgical services, our patients do not need to travel for many general and ambulatory surgical procedures. As a result of local care, our patients benefit from an increased recovery time, and they appreciate the convenience of being close to their homes and families. |
