Brodstone Memorial Hospital is a cornerstone of the Superior, Nebraska community.

We are grateful to all our volunteers who donate their time, energy, talent and support. Brodstone Memorial Hospital has an active Auxiliary, over 200 members strong, whose primary mission is to assist us in providing high-quality, low-cost healthcare. The dedication of our volunteers makes it possible to purchase hospital equipment and to make improvements to our building on an annual basis. Sources of income for the Auxiliary include the Nifty Thrifty—an outlet for recycled clothing and other small items, the Gift Shop, located on the 1st floor of the hospital, and various annual fundraising events. Volunteer opportunities are also available at the hospital. Greeters are stationed at the north entrance to help patients and visitors get to their destinations within our facility. If you are interested in joining the Hospital Auxiliary or donating your time as a greeter, or help with the Nifty Thrifty or Gift Shop, please contact the Public Relations Director at Brodstone. Your volunteerism is greatly appreciated.

Fall BMH Auxiliary Meeting

October 17, 2019

Hospital Honors Mary Fuller

The Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held their fall meeting October 17, 2019.  Mary Fuller was named the Honored Volunteer for her volunteer efforts as Membership Chairman and other auxiliary activities.  Mary has been a member of the auxiliary for 38 years.  Current officers include, President Norrisa Flores, Vice President Amy Wenske, Secretary Sherry Gebers, Treasurer Emily Kirchhoff, and Hospital Liaison Karen Tinkham.  Shannon Short, hospital Pharmacist, addressed the membership.   Shannon spoke about Generation RX which is a presentation on reading medication labels, proper disposal of  old medications and Opioid misuse.

Treg Vyzourek, CEO, was not able to attend the meeting in person, but thanks to technology, he was able to speak live to the membership.  Treg spoke about the new Mental Health provider, Krista Holeman.  She is part of the Thrive Center for senior patients age 55+.  He also spoke of future plans to be a regional hub for Boystown counseling services.  The Gala held October 12 was a great success.  Final numbers have not been tallied, however more money was raised than the first year thanks to the generosity of the community.  Treg also shared that Brodstone is working on a new construction project that will be rather large that will include new patient rooms, ER and pre-op.  The main goal of the project is for safety, security and privacy of our patients.

Committee reports were given.  The Ice Cream Social held in August had a profit of $2,106.  The next event that the auxiliary is working on is the Fall Fund Raiser which will be held at the hospital in the Specialty Clinic waiting room.  It will be held November 223 from 10 am to 6 pm.  Homemade bake sale items will be available and jar of soup to go.  The Gift Shop will be open extra hours, 10 am to 6 pm on Thursday and Friday, November 21 & 22.  Raffle tickets are also available from any auxiliary member.  Raffle prizes include 2 tickets to "The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year" production at Red Cloud Opera House on December 6 and a handbag filled with items which include a bracelet, wallet and jelly.

Norrisa Flores thanked the membership for all of their volunteer hours.  The auxiliary membership currently stands at 220 members.  The auxiliary has two fund raisers each year and staffs the hospital Gift Shop and the Nifty Thrifty.  Some auxiliary members also greet at the hospital. They have two meetings a year.

If you would like to become a member, please contact Karen Tinkham at Brodstone Memorial Hospital.  Annual membership is $1.00 and lifetime membership is $25.00.
