Lynette BartleyBrodstone Memorial Hospital’s Employee of the quarter candidates were chosen for 2018.  Employee of the 1st Quarter was Lynette Bartley.  At the time she was nominated she was Specialty Clinic Director.  Lynette was chosen because of the fantastic job she has done streamlining the processes in the Specialty Clinic.  Lynette is positive, appreciative, and works hard to make the process seamless.  Since then, Lynette has moved to the Material Management Director position.

Lynette has been employed at Brodstone for 2 years.  She enjoys her job because of the teamwork atmosphere at Brodstone, “someone is always willing to stop what they are doing to help when you need it the most.”  When Lynette was chosen as Employee of the Quarter, she “feels proud to be accepted into a great bunch of folks that makeup the BMH family and made me want to be a better employee and person.”

Lynette serves on the Brodstone Foundation Committee, Employee Engagement Team, Patient Experience Team and Hospital Auxiliary.  Lynette lives in rural Jewell County on part of the family farm, with her husband Gail and their Great Pyrenees dog.  They are K-State fans and follow profession bull riding and professional rodeo.  She is also an auctioneer that she enjoys as a hobby.

Karla BlackstoneEmployee of the 2nd Quarter is Karla Blackstone.  She is a Certified Medical Assistant and has worked at the clinic for 14 years.  Her favorite part of her job is her coworkers; she says “we are like family.”  Being named Employee of the Quarter “made her feel appreciated.”

Karla was nominated for Employee of the Quarter because she is kind, compassionate, and patient.  She is always willing to go the extra step to help someone whether it is an employee or a patient.  Karla is always cheerful and willing to lend an extra hand.

Karla is secretary for the Red Caps Booster Club, Happy Time Preschool board member and treasurer and serves on the Wellness committee at Brodstone.

Karla grew up in Superior and she has enjoys raising her children in the community.  She likes to  spend time with her family at the lake, camping and boating and attending her children’s sporting events.

Cathy Engel was chosen for Employee of the 3rd Quarter for her positive attitude.  Cathy has excellent leadership skills and a great rapport with the providers.  She has worked several extra shifts when needed.

Cathy is a Night Charge Nurse and has been at Brodstone for 8 years.  When asked what she enjoys the most about working at Brodstone, she says “I love the teamwork and the people I care for at the hospital.”  Cathy lives at Fairfield with her 17 year old son, Garrett, who will graduate from high school this year.   She is busy with her family, following activities of her son and nieces and nephews.  Cathy graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing.

Tara DrudikEmployee of the 4th Quarter is Tara Drudik.  She is a registered Nurse.  Without the hard work and diligence that Tara puts into her work, many of our patients would not get their services covered by insurance.  Tara works in the background, but her job is so very important to the financial integrity of Brodstone and to our patients. With her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile, Tara makes the job of her co-workers a little bit easier and enjoyable.

Tara has worked at Brodstone for 23 years.  She enjoys working at Brodstone because she “believes that every department strives to provide the best care possible to all of our patients.”  She feels honored to be selected because “there are many well deserving people that work at Brodstone.”

Tara grew up in Lawrence and always knew she wanted to be a part of a rural community.  She chose Brodstone because of all of the services they provide. She worked the first 10 years of her career on the nursing floor, emergency room, and outpatient surgery in the hospital.  She then took a position at the clinic.  She is thankful for all of the experience she has gained and worked with so many great people. Tara and her husband live in Nelson.  Tara has a daughter, Kristin and husband, Lane Steinhauer, and granddaughter, Hensley.  Tara also has a son, Peyton and daughter Karigan.  She enjoys running, spending time with her family and watching sporting events.

Congratulations to each deserving Employee of the Quarter for 2018.  This is especially gratifying because they are nominated by a co-worker and are chosen  by a team of their peers.  From these candidates, the Employee of the Year is chosen.  That employee will represent Brodstone at the Caring Kind Luncheon that is held at the Nebraska Hospital Association at LaVista in October.
